Get to know our founders outside of their days hard at work finding sustainable solutions, and yes they are both called Thomas.
This week, we caught up with Thomas Campman to talk hobbies, hidden talents, and sustainability dreams.

Q: You studied Economics and Business in Rotterdam and then moved to South America. How did your career path lead to UBITE ?

A: After studying I moved to South America where I worked with many NGOs and traveled extensively. That experience gave me a broader perspective on global challenges. Later, I worked in a more corporate environment, as a business developer at Aurora, a medicinal  cannabis company. Navigating the complex regulations in that industry was tough but taught me a lot about working within strict regulatory frameworks, a skill that definitely helps now in the sustainability space. It feels like I’m in the right place now. Helping to create better systems, but in a practical, business like manner.

Q: How did your time in South America affect you?

A: Living in South America opened my eyes to a different pace and way of life, more community-focused and resourceful than what I was used to in the Netherlands. That experience shaped my mindset and gave me a strong sense of purpose.

Q: What are your strengths at UBITE?

A: I’m good with numbers, but what really drives me is finding creative solutions especially when working closely with clients. I enjoy building strong collaborations and shaping ideas into real opportunities. Business development isn’t just about growth for me, it’s a creative process where you solve problems together and turn shared goals into action. Balancing that with structure and strategy is what keeps things moving forward smoothly.

Q: What does success look like for you and UBITE?

A: Success means making a real impact. The dream is replacing fossil and single-use plastics with reusable materials and designs that people like. With all the technical, and logistic solutions we have at hand today it’s crazy that we still throw so much away only to be burned. Although our focus is more related to materials and design, real success would be developing sustainable solutions in all parts of the supply chain.

Q: What would be a breakthrough moment for UBITE?

A:  Landing a deal with airlines to replace single-use plastics in-flight would be a massive breakthrough. Considering the amount of waste generated in the industry it would be an incredible opportunity to implement a sustainable solution like ours.

Q: What’s one of the biggest challenges you face?

A: Changing people’s habits is tough and unless there are regulations at a governmental level companies can often be hesitant to make the change. Many stick to what they know, so convincing them to try sustainable options takes persistence and clear communication but we are optimistic.

Q: Anything people might not guess about you?

A: I’m a bit of a green thumb and love gardening. I especially enjoy sitting in my garden during summer, watching everything bloom. It’s a simple pleasure that helps me recharge and appreciate the little things.
